A violent attack on Thursday night has left a 30-year-old man, Elisha Abbas Saku, dead after he was ambushed and beheaded by armed assailants in Riwhie-Chwo, Nzharuvo area of Miango District, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State.
According to reports, the attackers stormed the community around 10pm, triggering panic and confusion among residents as they carried out the assault.
A statement issued on Friday by the Irigwe Youth Movement confirmed the incident, describing it as a brutal ambush. The group’s National Publicity Secretary, Joseph Yonkpa, signed the statement, confirming that Saku, aged 30, was killed during the attack.
The organisation expressed sorrow over the killing, praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and asking for comfort for the Irigwe community in the wake of the tragedy.
The statement read in part: “Yesterday night, 16th April 2026, gunmen ambushed and beheaded Mr. Elisha Abbas Saku, 30 years old, at Riwhie-Chwo, Nzharuvo, Miango District of Bassa LGA, Plateau State.”
The killing adds to growing concerns over recurring violent attacks in parts of Plateau State.
