2027: ‘People Are Working Behind Makinde To Stain His Name’ – Former PDP Chieftain, Ayorinde

Oyo State Governor Engr Seyi Makinde

Former chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ibadan North East local government area in Oyo State, Kunle Ayorinde, has claimed some people are working to sabotage the name of Governor Seyi Makinde.

PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that Ayorinde made this remark during an interview with journalists, justifying his defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Ayorinde said he was among those who worked for the success of Governor Makinde in 2019, but he was not compensated for the job he did.

According to Ayorinde, he attempted to see the governor to explain his views, but the powers that be in Makinde’s government blocked him.

He said, “We worked for the victory of the party in 2023 with the hope that we should be compensated by Governor Seyi Makinde.

“Unfortunately, instead of compensating us, the power that be blocked all access to see him (governor) and explain our views to him.

“Politic is work and be compensated. Governor Seyi Makinde is a good leader, but some people are working behind him to stain his name”.

Meanwhile, the Oyo State House of Assembly on Wednesday passed a unanimous vote of confidence in Governor Makinde and the Speaker, Adebo Ogundoyin, dismissing reports of an alleged impeachment plot.

The resolution followed plenary in Ibadan, where lawmakers reaffirmed their support for both the executive and legislative arms.

Moving the motion, Majority Leader Sanjo Adedoyin described the allegations as unfounded.

He said the rumours were baseless, distracting, and politically motivated.

Adedoyin added, “The Assembly remains united and committed to its constitutional responsibilities, and no formal communication or process suggesting impeachment had been initiated within the chamber.”

Lawmakers also dismissed speculations linking the governor, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, and some legislators to alleged plots against one another.

The House described such claims as unfounded and misleading.
