The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, has condemned the deadly attack on residents of Angwan Rukuba in Jos North Local Government Area, describing the incident as senseless and unacceptable.
PrimeTimes Nigeria reports that the attack, which occurred on Sunday night, reportedly claimed several lives and left many others injured, throwing the community into mourning.
In a statement issued on Monday, Kalu expressed deep sorrow over the tragic incident, commiserating with bereaved families and the Plateau State Government.
He also offered prayers for the quick recovery of those injured in the attack.
Condemning the recurring violence, the Deputy Speaker stressed the need for urgent and decisive action to safeguard lives.
“The sanctity of human life must be upheld at all times,” the lawmaker said.
He described the attack as unacceptable, calling on relevant authorities to intensify efforts to prevent further bloodshed.
Kalu assured residents that security agencies would ramp up efforts to track down those responsible for the attack and bring them to justice.
He urged members of the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing credible information to aid ongoing investigations.
The lawmaker also advocated stronger security architecture in vulnerable communities, stressing the importance of collective responsibility in addressing insecurity.
He called for renewed commitment from government, security agencies, and citizens to ensure lasting peace in Plateau State and across the country.
