A new report suggests much of the online attention Nicki Minaj has been receiving lately may not be coming solely from real fans.
Over the past year, the rapper has leaned into a combative social media presence, posting frequent critiques of Democratic leaders and sharing conservative talking points that have traveled quickly across X. Her posts regularly rack up millions of views and are often echoed by prominent right-wing influencers.
She has also received public praise from President Donald Trump, including a recent appearance at the Trump Accounts Summit, where the two shared the stage and filmed a friendly TikTok.
Behind the scenes, however, a report from disinformation research firm Cyabra claims a large network of automated accounts helped boost Minaj’s political posts. According to the analysis, more than 18,000 bots repeatedly flooded her comment sections with glowing praise, especially when authentic users were critical.
“We don’t really see this kind of crossover between geopolitics and pop culture,” Cyabra CEO Dan Brahmy said, calling the activity unusual.
The report found many comments relied on repetitive language and generic positivity. Others were longer and crafted to sound sincere. “Nicki you are brave for living your truth,” read one comment flagged as fake.
Minaj’s team did not respond to requests for comment, while a Trump adviser dismissed the findings, saying, “She doesn’t need bots.”
