Meek Mill is pushing back once again after a viral clip of him doing bunny hops resurfaced online, reigniting debate about a moment he says has long been misunderstood.
The Philadelphia rapper addressed the renewed chatter on X, responding to claims that billionaire Michael Rubin pressured him into hopping across a tennis court after losing a friendly match in 2021.
“They clipped me doing bunny hops and acted as if a billionaire made me do something against my moral codes from a lost bet,” Meek wrote, calling the narrative misleading.

According to Meek Mill, the clip omits critical context, including the presence of other artists and the fact that the moment was rooted in his own culture, not mockery.
He added that the resurfaced video is now being used to influence younger audiences. “They do it for your future consumer like Gen Z,” he wrote, suggesting that people unfamiliar with his history might misread the moment.
The clip shows Meek hopping across a tennis court after losing to Michael Rubin, a longtime friend. While some viewers saw harmless fun, others criticized it as demeaning.

Meek has previously defended the tradition, explaining that bunny hops were a way to keep games light. “We used to make killers do bunny hops when they loss because it was too hostile for money,” he said last year, adding that it was never meant to be humiliating.
