Kevin Gates is opening up about his decision to step away from pornography and focus on a more intentional approach to intimacy.
During a recent appearance on the Friends Keep Secrets podcast with Benny Blanco and Lil Dicky, the rapper reflected on how his mindset has evolved over time.
“Yeah, I used to watch a lot of porn, and it’ll make you feel insecure,” Gates said. “I developed an insecurity with that until I realized how sacred your masculinity is.”
He explained that his current lifestyle centers on being more mindful about relationships and connection.
“Once I refrained from watching porn, I realized the intimacy was sacred between me and my partner,” he said. “That’s true intimacy to me.”
Gates also spoke about redirecting his energy into other areas of his life, including fitness and personal growth. “You could take that same energy and go work out,” he said. “You can put that energy in other places.”
His latest remarks come almost a year after he revealed his then-girlfriend, Brittany Renner’s reaction to his journey.
“I was spiritually aligning myself with somebody and she was [like], ‘You don’t cum?’ I said I don’t.” Gates recalled at the time. “She got upset with me and I was like, ‘Why is this such a big deal? She changed in all her energy–’Cause I want it–and that’s when I realized the value that the life force has. It’s so powerful that it can create a child.”
