Kanye West Appears Drowsy In Court During $57M Malibu Mansion Lawsuit

People are raising eyebrows after Kanye West appeared unusually drowsy while testifying in court this week.

The rapper, who now goes by Ye, was in court on March 6 as part of a lawsuit filed by handyman Tony Saxon related to the renovation of West’s Malibu mansion.

And according to reporters in the courtroom, Ye appeared to struggle to stay awake.

REPEATED YAWNING IN COURT

Rolling Stone reporter Nancy Dillon reported that West repeatedly yawned during questioning and at times appeared to answer questions with his eyes closed.

Observers said the rapper also claimed he could not recall many of his interactions with Saxon.

The unusual courtroom behavior quickly sparked speculation online, with some wondering whether exhaustion, stress, or possible medication might explain his appearance.

There is no indication from the court that West was under the influence of any narcotics.

THE $57 MILLION HOUSE

The lawsuit centers around West’s Malibu property known as “Little Ando,” a minimalist oceanfront home designed by renowned architect Tadao Ando.

West purchased the home in 2021 for roughly $57 million and reportedly ordered an extreme renovation that stripped the property of electricity, plumbing, and windows.

The house was never actually lived in by West.

He later sold the property in 2024 for about $21 million, taking a massive financial loss.

WHAT THE HANDYMAN CLAIMS

Tony Saxon alleges that West hired him to oversee the renovation project and also act as security and a live in caretaker for the property.

According to the lawsuit, Saxon was promised $20,000 per week for his work but claims he only received one payment.

He also alleges the working conditions were extremely difficult. In the complaint, Saxon said he had to sleep in makeshift conditions on the property, sometimes lying on empty floor space and using his coat as bedding.

Saxon claims he was eventually fired after injuring his back and refusing to comply with what he described as dangerous renovation requests.

BIANCIA CENSORI ALSO TESTIFIED

West’s wife, Bianca Censori, also appeared in court a day earlier.

She told the jury that she had little involvement in the renovation project and did not deal directly with Saxon.

During testimony, a question about whether Saxon had confused her with West’s ex wife Kim Kardashian was raised, but Censori successfully objected to the line of questioning.

A LONG LEGAL BATTLE

Saxon’s attorney says his client has been waiting more than two years for his chance to present the case.

Meanwhile, West has filed his own legal action accusing Saxon of improperly placing a $1.8 million mechanic’s lien on the property.

With both sides making serious accusations, the case is shaping up to be one of the more unusual celebrity legal battles in recent memory.

And after Ye’s sleepy courtroom appearance, many people are watching even more closely.
