Savannah Guthrie and her siblings are increasing their efforts to bring their mother home as the search for Nancy Guthrie continues into a fourth week.
On Feb. 24, Savannah Guthrie announced her family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information that leads to the recovery of her 84-year-old mother, who disappeared from her Tucson, Arizona, home on February 1.
A source close to the family teold PEOPLE the decision was discussed early on but delayed out of concern it could flood investigators with more tips than they could manage. “They have been ready to do this since day one,” the source says, adding that tens of thousands of leads were already coming in.
The wording “up to $1 million” allows for the possibility that multiple tips could qualify for a payout. The reward is not dependent on an arrest, and the family is working closely with the FBI, whose $100,000 reward remains active.
In an emotional video, Savannah spoke about holding on to hope. “We are blowing on the embers of hope,” she said, while acknowledging the painful uncertainty. “We need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”
The Guthries have also donated $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, hoping the attention surrounding their case will help other families searching for answers.
