NNPC, others sell diesel at N1,160/litre – Gbadamosi

A concerned Nigerian citizen based in Lagos has revealed that the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) retail outlet sells diesel at NGN1,160/litre, as opposed to NGN1,000 in other filling stations within the state.

He also mentioned that Mobil filling stations dispense the same commodity at NGN1,160/litre with the national retail outlet.

In April 2024, Chronicle NG reported that Dangote Petroleum Refinery cut the price of diesel to NGN1,000 in an effort to reduce inflation and alleviate suffering in Nigeria.

The previous market prices were NGN 1,600 and NGN 1200 per litre, respectively.

Adekunle Gbadamosi stated in his X post that “some NNPC and Mobil filling stations are selling diesel at NGN1,160/litre; this is the same product they bought in Lagos at NGN1,000/litre.”

Gbadamosi claimed, “That’s 16% margin on a product that they will sell within 1 to 2 weeks. That’s a margin of NGN4.8 million for 30,000 liters.”

He felt, as a concerned citizen, that “they (NNPC and Mobil) will start declaring billions of Naira profits at the expense of Nigerians soon.”

Gbadamosi commented that “all these businesses need to do better to ease the pain on the citizens; the government cannot do it all alone.

In his X post, he drew the attention of Exxon Mobil Nigeria, National Petroleum Company Limited, and its Group Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari. In addition, he said, “God bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria (FRN).”
