Bandits kidnap pastor, other passengers in Oyo
Olugbenga Olawore, a pastor from the Redeemed Christian Church of God, was kidnapped along with other passengers on a 14-seater bus in Oyo State.
The clergyman and other passengers were kidnapped on Friday night near the Maya axis of Lanlate-Eruwa Road.
The clergyman claimed to be returning from Ipapo town, where he had gone to finalize the burial preparations for his mother.
SP Adewale Osifeso, the Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, confirmed the abduction to reporters on Saturday but said that some of them had been rescued.
According to the PPRO, police officers were working with other security agencies and local hunters in the forest and nearby areas to rescue the other victims and apprehend the suspects.
He said, “Some of the rescued victims are assisting with useful leads that can help the investigation. All routes around the area, including the adjoining forest areas, are being combed.
“Investigation is ongoing. Updates would be provided accordingly.”
