Tanzanian singer Zuchu has announced the end of her marriage to fellow music star Diamond Platnumz, revealing that the couple have separated and are currently undergoing divorce proceedings.
The emotional announcement was made through a post shared on her Instagram Story on Sunday, bringing an end to months of speculation surrounding their relationship.
In the statement, the singer said the decision was a difficult one but noted that she had chosen to prioritise her well-being after years of trying to make the marriage work.
“We tried, but Allah has His own plans,” she wrote.
Although Zuchu did not disclose the specific reasons behind the separation, she indicated that the decision was made after careful consideration.
She revealed that she now intends to focus on her health, personal healing and music career.
“I have finally decided to choose myself, and this is a time to heal and focus more on my health and career,” she said.
Confirming that divorce proceedings are already underway, the singer added:
“My husband and I are now separated and going through a divorce. I announce this with a heavy heart. After six years of being together, I’ve finally decided to choose myself.”
The announcement marks the end of one of East Africa’s most high-profile celebrity relationships.
Zuchu and Diamond Platnumz began dating several years before officially tying the knot in June 2025, following a relationship that had attracted significant public attention.
Throughout their time together, the pair frequently collaborated musically and remained among the region’s most influential entertainment figures.
Beyond being husband and wife, Zuchu is also signed to Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB), the record label founded by Diamond Platnumz, making their personal and professional relationship closely intertwined.
Neither party has indicated whether the divorce will affect their working relationship within the label.
As news of the separation spread, social media was flooded with reactions from fans across Tanzania and beyond.
Among those who commented publicly was Zari Hasan, Diamond Platnumz’s former partner and mother of two of his children.
Zari, who ended her relationship with the singer years ago over allegations of repeated infidelity, appeared to react to the development by praising Zuchu for enduring the relationship for as long as she did.
Although she did not elaborate extensively, her response quickly attracted attention online, with many users linking it to the circumstances surrounding her own past relationship with the Tanzanian superstar.
Diamond Platnumz has yet to issue an official statement addressing the separation or responding to Zuchu’s announcement.
The singer, widely regarded as one of Africa’s biggest music exports, has built a successful career spanning more than a decade, earning international recognition through hit songs, collaborations and his influence in East African music.
Zuchu has also established herself as one of Tanzania’s leading female artists, releasing several successful projects since joining WCB Records and becoming one of the label’s biggest stars.
Their relationship has long been the subject of intense public interest, with fans closely following milestones in both their personal lives and musical careers.
The latest announcement has therefore generated widespread reactions, with supporters expressing sadness over the end of the marriage while wishing both artists peace as they begin a new chapter.
Although the reasons behind the separation remain private, Zuchu’s message suggests that her priority moving forward will be healing, personal growth and her career.
For now, fans will be watching closely to see whether Diamond Platnumz addresses the situation publicly and how the divorce may shape the future of one of East Africa’s most prominent entertainment partnerships.
