Violence Erupts in Osun as Armed Hoodlums Escorted by Police Take Over Motor Parks

Violence has on Sunday erupted across Osun state as suspected armed thugs took over motor parks.

This is coming days after the state’s governor, Ademola Adeleke, declared ban on the activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, in the state.

NPO Reported that the governor had, during a Security Council Meeting held on Thursday in Osogbo, directed the Osun Police Command and other security agencies to end all the union’s activities in all motor parks across the state.

The directive however appeared to have triggered violent acts as armed thugs went rampage on Sunday, storming motor parks and opening fire in the air.

One of the attacks captured in a video shared on X showed the armed thugs, allegedly linked to the Osun NURTW faction led by Kazeem Oyewale, popularly known as Asiri Eniba, shooting sporadically in the air following their arrival at May Fair, Ile-Ife.

Meanwhile, the thugs were alleged to have been accompanied by police officers as they were escorted with a police van spotted in the video.

Prior to the Sunday mayhem, an attack was reportedly carried out on Saturday with an alleged member of the Accord Party identified as Yomi Akanji shot dead.
