The management of the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, Kogi State, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in same-sex conduct and rusticated four others for one academic session for fighting on campus.
The university disclosed this in a statement by its Information, Public Relations and Protocol Unit, saying the disciplinary actions were approved during the 31st Regular Meeting of the University Senate after considering recommendations from the Students’ Disciplinary Committee.
According to the statement, letters conveying the decisions were signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Mr Eli Usman Gbadafu, in line with the provisions of the institution’s Students’ Handbook, Second Edition, as amended in 2025.

The expelled students were from the Department of Biology Education and the Department of Mining Engineering.
The university said both students were found culpable of “gay practice” and were consequently expelled from the institution.
Four other students from the departments of Microbiology, Biology Biochemistry were rusticated for one academic session over their involvement in fighting.
The university said the sanctions were imposed in accordance with its disciplinary procedures and existing regulations.
Reaffirming its stance on discipline, the management said it remained committed to maintaining order and providing a conducive environment for learning.
It stated, “The University Management reiterated its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.”
The institution also warned that it would continue to enforce its rules against students who violate its code of conduct.
“Management warned that it would not hesitate to take decisive disciplinary action against any student found guilty of violating the rules and regulations of the University,” the statement added.
The university further advised students to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and ensure their conduct aligns with the institution’s rules and regulations.
