Trump unveils declassified election integrity files; WhiteHouse.gov suffers temporary outage amid massive traffic surge

The White House website briefly experienced technical issues on Thursday after President Donald Trump announced the release of declassified intelligence documents related to election integrity during a primetime address.

Users attempting to access the website reported seeing a ‘Too Many Requests’ error, suggesting the site may have been overwhelmed by a sudden increase in traffic.

WhiteHouse.gov Faces Temporary Access Issues

Soon after President Trump’s announcement, several users on X said they were unable to access parts of the White House website. Screenshots shared online showed the message “Too Many Requests”, a common error that appears when a website receives more requests than it can handle.

Despite the disruption, the White House news section continued to publish official statements and updates. Some users, however, reported intermittent problems while trying to open specific pages.

Declassified Documents Released on Election Security

The White House uploaded dozens of declassified documents focusing on election security. According to the administration, the files cover a range of topics, including alleged Chinese efforts to obtain and use American voter data, as well as reported vulnerabilities in US voting machines.

The release followed President Trump’s decision to make the documents public during his televised address.

Trump Claims Documents Reveal Election Vulnerabilities

During his primetime speech, Trump said, “Tonight, I am announcing the immediate declassification and release of critical intelligence revealing shocking vulnerabilities in our election infrastructure.”

He added, “This evidence shows that the election system we have is dangerously exposed to hacking, exploitation, and foreign interference.”

Trump claimed that China had obtained voter names, addresses, phone numbers and political party preferences through what he described as the largest compromise of election data in US history. He alleged that the incident resulted in China’s acquisition of 220 million US voter files.

President Calls for Stronger Election Security

Trump also argued that the current American electoral system does not provide sufficient safeguards. According to the President, the system “falls catastrophically short” of being impartial and reliable.

He said, “Every American deserves to know that their vote will be counted accurately in a system, and that is to make that system secure-one where cheating and interference are not just difficult, but virtually impossible. Unfortunately, the current system falls terribly short of that standard.”

China Rejects Election Interference Allegations

Ahead of Trump’s speech, the Chinese Embassy in Washington denied reports suggesting that Beijing had attempted to interfere in US elections. In a statement, embassy spokesman Liu Chang said, “China has never and will never interfere in the US presidential elections. China has consistently upheld the principle of non-interference in the domestic affairs of others.”

He added, “The US election is a domestic issue. The American people’s votes determine its outcome.”

Website Outage Sparks Online Discussion

The brief outage quickly drew attention on social media, where many users linked the technical issues to a sharp rise in visitors trying to access the newly released documents. While the White House website later became accessible again, there was no immediate official statement explaining the temporary disruption.
