The Presidency has said that President Bola Tinubu has performed well and deserves a second term of office in the 2027 general election, noting that his achievements over the past three and a half years would speak for him in next year’s polls.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Special Duties, Tunde Rahman, made this known during an inspection tour of federal and state government projects organised by the Renewed Hope Ambassadors in collaboration with the Presidential Media Team in Kogi State.
Rahman explained that the reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration had freed up resources that enabled state governments to embark on impactful infrastructural development projects, commending Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo for judiciously deploying such funds toward interventions in healthcare, road infrastructure and education across several local government areas of the state.
He said such interventions by Ododo and other governors, particularly those of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), had been made possible by the President’s reforms, which he said had freed up resources for the sub-nationals, reiterating his belief that the President’s achievements would speak for him and earn him re-election in 2027.
The Director of Media and Publicity, Renewed Hope Ambassadors, described Governor Ododo as humble, fair and moderate, noting that the projects inspected reflected those qualities.
Speaking after inspecting the Model Science Secondary School, Okebukun, in Kogi West District, the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, said the state government’s investment in Model Science Secondary Schools was aimed at reversing the trend of parents enrolling their children in private schools, noting that the quality of facilities in the new public schools now surpassed what is obtainable in most private schools in the state.
He said the state had put in place a multi-layered security architecture to protect students and staff, especially following past incidents, explaining that following the Osara incident, technology had been incorporated into the school’s security framework, which he said was proving effective in keeping students safe.
Fanwo further emphasised that education and health remained top priorities under the Ododo administration’s governance pillars, noting that beyond building facilities, the government was also focused on access and affordability.
He said remodelled primary healthcare centres had been extended to many rural communities across the state, adding that the state’s health insurance scheme, considered among the best in the country, was reaching the grassroots, not merely due to the commissioning of a new headquarters.
He added that pregnant women and children aged zero to six now have access to free medical care under the government’s social security agenda.
At the Kogi State University, Kabba, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kehinde Temitope Eniola, said the institution was targeting August for the completion of new student hostels, disclosing that a 300-room hostel for male students was currently under construction, designed to also promote hygiene, self-care and independent living among students.
During a visit to the Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, the Director of Physical Planning, Dr Mohammed Audu, said the student population had risen from 240 in 2020 to 6,000 in 2026, noting that the university now runs nine faculties along with a College of Medical Sciences offering programmes in Medicine, Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Radiography and Anatomy.
At the channelisation and reclamation project site in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area, the Commissioner for Environmental and Ecological Management, Joseph Oluwasegun, explained that such projects, sited across the state’s three senatorial districts, were part of the fulfilment of Governor Ododo’s campaign promise to reclaim degraded lands.
He noted that the waterway in question had claimed lives and washed away farmlands in Kabba over the years, expressing appreciation to the state government and the President for creating an enabling environment that made collaboration with the World Bank on the project possible.
The Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Council, Hon. Zacchaeus Dare Michael, said that prior to the project, farmlands were frequently washed away each rainy season due to persistent flooding in the area.
He thanked President Tinubu for creating an enabling environment for governors, including Ododo, to work, expressing confidence that the APC would sweep elections across Kabba/Bunu and Kogi State.
The Kogi State Commissioner for Works, Abdulsalami Ozigi, led the team on a tour of the Abuja-Lokoja-Okene-Auchi Highway, the Lokoja-Benin Highway, and the 20-kilometre Okene Bypass linking Auchi, Benin and the southern corridor, stating that work on the roads had progressed steadily following the alarm earlier raised by the state government and the subsequent visit by the Minister of Works, David Umahi.
At the upgraded Primary Healthcare Centre in Obuburu, Adavi Local Government Area, the Executive Director of the Kogi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, Dr Muazu Musa, said the facility was among 88 primary healthcare centres revitalised under the World Bank-supported IMPACT project, in addition to 70 upgraded by the state government and others supported by development partners.
He noted that the hospital now offers specialist services that previously required referrals outside the state and houses Kogi’s only Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) facility.
The Kogi State Health Commissioner, Dr Abdulazeez Adeiza, listed the facilities available at the hospital to include MRI and CT scanners, renal dialysis services, and Nigeria’s only hospital-based hyperbaric oxygen treatment chamber.
He added that medical students’ hostels and staff accommodation had been completed ahead of clinical training, while solar-powered infrastructure was being installed to reduce the facility’s dependence on the national grid.
