The Super Falcons of Nigeria has alleged theft of money from players’ wallet by staff of Marriot Hotel in Casablanca, Morocco, where they were lodged ahead of the 2026 Women’s African Cup of Nations, WAFCON.
One of the players, Esther Okoronkwo, made the allegation in series of post shared on her Instagram handle on Friday.
Okoronkwo narrated how she discovered that $500 had initially gone missing from her wallet following the team’s return from training.
She would later confirm the total amount missing in her wallet to be $700.
Okoronkwo further disclosed that several other Super Falcons’ player, including team’s captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, were robbed by the cleaning staff of the hotel.
According to her, Ajibade was robbed of 200 Pounds while Osinachi Ohale had $100 also stolen from her wallet.
Other victims include Joy Omewa who confirmed that $120 was stolen from her with Halimatu Ayinde also getting ripped of $100.
‘This hotel Marriot in Casablanca just stole about a lot of peoples money from their Wallet.
‘They stole couple of dollars from my teammate.
‘They also stole 200 from Rash. They stole 100 from Osi. They stole 120 Pounds from Joy. This is ridiculous.
‘They stole Hali’s 100 USD. Guys I did my calculations wrong. They actually stole 700 not 500 USD.
‘The cleaning people stole the money. So, they waited while we weren’t in the room to clean and steal the money.’ Okoronkwo wrote in the posts.
The Super Falcons player disclosed complaining to the hotel management who alleged showed lack of concern and also addressed some of her teammates disrespectfully.
‘This hotel is so bad. Don’t ever come here. Their staff steals. I reported and neither of them seemed shocked. We started talking to them and they don’t have answers. They also started being disrespectful.’ She said.
However, no official statement has been issued by the Nigerian Football Federation, NFF, to confirm the allegation.
