Nigerian writer, life coach, and social media commentator Solomon Buchi has faulted a recent assertion by the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, that President Bola Tinubu is trying his best regarding insecurity in Nigeria.
Buchi rejected the defence of the president’s inability to tackle worsening insecurity in a video he shared on Instagram on Tuesday.
Adeboye, whilst defending the president against criticism over insecurity, argued that Tinubu has fulfilled his duty by directing security agencies.
He added that Nigerians cannot expect their commander-in-chief to wear a military uniform and fight on the front lines himself.
Speaking at the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, US, the revered cleric said, “I need to make this one clear: I don’t support those who are accusing the president of not doing enough. When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki and [fight].”

Responding, Buchi insisted that leadership goes beyond issuing orders and that accountability must ultimately rest with the president when security fails.
”There is a lot that can be said, but with all due respect, I just want to say this: the responsibility falls on the president, on the leader. When things go wrong, they have to hold him accountable,” he said.
The media personality went on to ask the RCCG leader who else Nigerians should hold responsible if not Tinubu, questioning whether soldiers or the Defence Minister should bear the blame instead, given that they answer to the presidency.
”And if we don’t blame the leader when things go south, who are we meant to blame? If we don’t blame Tinubu, who are we meant to blame?” he added.
Buchi further noted that the Tinubu-led government rarely addresses the nation during critical incidents, such as the abduction of schoolchildren and teachers in Oyo State.
”These things happen, but there is a sense of communication and consolation when you hear the president speak about these things in due time, as it’s happening. But no, he just goes about his normal business,” the social media critic said.
The influencer concluded that whilst he had previously defended Adeboye and the RCCG, he could not justify the pastor’s stance on this occasion.
