The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has successfully uploaded the particulars of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Rotimi Amaechi, to the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) nomination portal.
This further affirmed the candidacy of Atiku who emerged winner of the party’s presidential primaries in May.
The uploading of the former Vice President’s name alongside Amaechi was announced in a post shared on X on Tuesday night by Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC National Publicity Secretary.
Abdullahi described the development as another significant step in preparations for the general elections.
“We are pleased to announce successful upload of the names and particulars of our presidential and vice-presidential candidates to the INEC nomination portal,” Abdullahi stated.
This, he said, underscores ADC’s commitment to offering Nigerians a credible alternative anchored on competence, unity, and national renewal.
Recall that Atiku had emerged winner of the May 26th Presidential primaries with 1,846,370 votes, defeating Amaechi, who polled 504,117 votes, and third aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, who recorded 177,120 votes.
The results and conduct of the election were however highly disputed with Amaechi alleging voters’ disenfranchisement while Hayatu-Deen held that election was flawed with massive vote rigging.
Atiku would, after the dispute, pay reconciliatory visit to the aggrieved aspirants and subsequently picked Amaechi as his running mate.
