The Portuguese Football Federation has officially ended its contractual relationship with head coach Roberto Martínez and his coaching staff.
This development follows the natural expiry of his contract and comes just days after the Spaniard announced his departure in the wake of Portugal’s Round of 16 exit from the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
According to the federation’s statement on Wednesday: “The Portuguese Football Federation announces that it officially ended its contractual relationship with the National Team Coach, Roberto Martínez, and his coaching staff this Wednesday.”
Martínez, 52, had already confirmed his exit after Portugal’s 1-0 defeat to Spain. The loss brought his three-and-a-half-year tenure with the Seleção to a close.
