An investigation into the unexpected death of a sixty-year-old man at a hotel in Dutse has been launched by the Jigawa State Police Command.

The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, signed a statement that was posted on the command’s social media page.

The police claim that when the man and a 20-year-old lady booked into the hotel, he had a medical problem and was gasping for air after asking for a meal.

The police said that upon receiving the distress report, officers attached to the Yalwawa Division responded swiftly to the scene and evacuated him to the General Hospital, Dutse, where he was examined by medical personnel and unfortunately certified d£ad.

Detectives examined the hotel room and recovered food items, drinks, a suspected sexual enhancement substance, and other personal belongings for further investigation.

The man’s body was later released to his family for burial at their request.

The 20-year-old woman is said to be assisting investigators by providing information about what transpired.

The police urged the public to avoid spreading rumours, assuring that the investigation would be carried out thoroughly, professionally, and impartially.
