The Ogun State Police Command has arrested 43 suspects in a major raid on a criminal hideout under its ongoing Operation KOSAYE.
The command said the operation was carried out by operatives of the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) Unit at about 11 p.m. on July 7, 2026, following credible intelligence on criminal activities around Isheri-Olofin along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, opposite the Kara Cattle Market.
According to a statement issued on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, the location had become a haven for criminal elements involved in cultism, drug abuse, prostitution and other unlawful activities.
The Commander of the SWAT Unit, CSP Murphy, led the coordinated operation, which resulted in the arrest of 28 men and 15 women.
Police said a search of the premises led to the recovery of substances suspected to be Indian hemp, “Loud” and other hard drugs, as well as 10 mobile phones, four power banks, one rechargeable hand fan, a cross-body bag containing two ATM cards, one National Identity Card, and other items believed to be connected to criminal activities.
The command disclosed that following investigations, all 43 suspects were arraigned before a competent court and remanded in a correctional facility.
According to the police, the suspects are facing charges including criminal conspiracy, membership of an unlawful society, unlawful assembly, conduct likely to cause a breach of public peace, disorderly conduct, unlawful possession and use of suspected cannabis, prostitution, operating and managing an unlicensed brothel, living on the earnings of prostitution, and other related offences under Ogun State laws.
The police also revealed that some of the suspects are assisting investigators with useful information regarding other ongoing criminal investigations.
The command said the latest prosecution has increased the total number of suspects charged to court under Operation KOSAYE to 76, comprising 33 suspects prosecuted during the initial phase of the operation and the 43 suspects arraigned following the latest raid.
Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the SWAT operatives for their professionalism and described the operation as another significant milestone in the command’s campaign against crime.
The commissioner also urged residents to support the police by providing timely and credible information, assuring them that the command would sustain intelligence-led policing and strategic operations aimed at protecting lives, securing property and maintaining public order
