The Lagos State Police Command has appealed to members of the public for assistance in identifying the family of an 83-year-old man, Mr. Oriowo Gabriel, who was found alone and is currently in police protective custody.
In a statement, the command said Mr. Gabriel was rescued by a good Samaritan and taken to the Ipaja Police Division, where he is receiving care and is safe.
According to the police, efforts to locate his family have so far been unsuccessful.
The command said officers visited the addresses provided by the elderly man, but no one was able to identify him or provide information about his relatives.
“The man, Mr. Oriowo Gabriel, aged 83 years, was found by a kind-hearted member of the public and subsequently taken into protective police custody at Ipaja Division, where he is currently safe and well cared for,” the statement read.
The police appealed to anyone who knows Mr. Gabriel or has information that could help reunite him with his family or loved ones to come forward.
