The association said Adeniyi’s re-election underscores the confidence reposed in his leadership by customs administrations across the world and reflects the impact of the reforms he has championed at the NCS.
In a congratulatory message jointly signed by MARCON President, Ismail Aniemu, and Secretary, Olamide Osho on Thursday, the association praised the Customs CG for his exemplary leadership, transformative reforms and unwavering commitment to advancing customs administration both in Nigeria and globally.
Aniemu described the re-election as a well-deserved recognition of Adeniyi’s exceptional leadership qualities and his outstanding contributions to the global customs community.
“Your re-election as Chairperson of the WCO Council is not only a personal achievement but also a proud moment for Nigeria and the African continent. It is a clear demonstration of the confidence the international customs community has in your vision, competence and reform-driven leadership.”
The MARCON President said Adeniyi’s emergence and subsequent re-election as Chairperson of the WCO Council have further elevated the NCS’ profile on the global stage, underscoring the country’s growing influence in international customs policies and trade facilitation.
“This remarkable accomplishment has projected the Nigeria Customs Service onto the global stage and reinforced Nigeria’s standing as a respected voice among nations shaping the future of international customs administration and global trade.”
The association said the reforms introduced under Adeniyi’s leadership, including the deployment of the B’Odogwu Unified Customs Management System, sustained improvements in revenue generation, enhanced anti-smuggling operations, digital transformation and stronger stakeholder engagement, have repositioned the Service as one of Africa’s leading customs administrations.
MARCON further stated that these reforms have strengthened public confidence in the Service while promoting transparency, efficiency and the ease of doing business.
The association expressed confidence that Adeniyi’s renewed mandate at the WCO Council would further deepen international cooperation, advance global customs modernisation and create greater opportunities for Nigeria to contribute meaningfully to the development of international trade policies.
MARCON wished the Comptroller-General a successful second term as Chairperson of the WCO Council and reaffirmed its support for reforms aimed at building a more efficient, transparent and globally competitive Nigeria Customs Service.
