Communities in Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Government Areas of Kaduna State have described ongoing road and bridge projects executed by Governor Uba Sani’s administration as transformative interventions that are improving agriculture, boosting livelihoods and expanding access to education, healthcare, and markets.
The commendation was made during a statewide media tour of ongoing and completed infrastructure projects led by the Kaduna State Commissioner for Information and Culture, Ahmed Maiyaki.
Speaking during the tour, a farmer from Anguwar Jaba in Sabon Gari Local Government Area, Ibrahim Abubakar, said the construction of the Anguwar Jaba–Kakiyayi Bridge has ended more than four decades of hardship for residents.
According to him, successive administrations failed to address repeated appeals for the bridge, leaving farming communities isolated, especially during the rainy season.
“For more than 40 years, we suffered because there was no bridge linking our communities. During the rainy season, farmers could not access their farmlands or transport produce to markets. Governor Uba Sani has fulfilled a dream many thought would never become a reality. This bridge will boost agricultural production and improve the livelihoods of our people,” he said.
Another resident, Shamsudeen Abdullahi, described the bridge as a strategic project connecting several farming communities in Zaria and Sabon Gari local government areas.
He said the project has eased the transportation of farm produce, improved access to schools and made healthcare services more accessible.
“In the past, parents depended on canoes to take their children across the river to school, exposing them to serious risks. During medical emergencies, accessing Limi General Hospital or Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital, Shika, was extremely difficult, and we sadly lost lives because of delayed access to healthcare. Today, that challenge is becoming history,” Abdullahi said.
Residents of Hanwa Low Cost also applauded the ongoing road construction linking the community to GRA Zaria, saying it has improved connectivity, reduced travel time and stimulated economic activities.

Similarly, the Ward Head of Unguwan Gangare said the road project has enhanced mobility within the community and increased property values by attracting new residents and investors.
Speaking during the inspection, Maiyaki said the projects reflect Governor Uba Sani’s commitment to inclusive development by extending infrastructure to both urban and rural communities.
“These projects are not just about laying asphalt or constructing bridges; they are about connecting people to opportunities, improving access to schools and hospitals, opening up farming communities, stimulating local economies and enhancing the quality of life of our citizens. That is the development philosophy of Governor Uba Sani’s administration,” he said.
The commissioner disclosed that the projects are part of more than 150 road projects spanning about 1,345 kilometres currently under construction across Kaduna State’s 23 local government areas.
“What we are witnessing is one of the most ambitious infrastructure programmes in the history of Kaduna State. The Governor is deliberately investing in roads and bridges because infrastructure remains the foundation for economic growth, food security, job creation and sustainable development,” he added.
Maiyaki urged residents to protect public infrastructure and support the administration’s development efforts.
“Government alone cannot sustain these investments without the support of the people. We appeal to communities to safeguard these facilities so that future generations can continue to benefit from them,” he said.
The media tour, according to the government, was organised as part of the Kaduna State Government’s commitment to promoting transparency and giving citizens firsthand insight into the impact of projects being implemented across the state under Governor Uba Sani’s administration.
