Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility for fresh attacks on United States military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, marking another major escalation in the ongoing conflict between the two countries. The attacks came after the United States carried out its 10th consecutive night of strikes on Iranian targets. Along with the attacks, the IRGC warned that “more decisive and powerful” drone and missile strikes could follow if the conflict continues.

What happened in the latest attacks?

According to Iran’s state news agency IRNA, the IRGC targeted US military-related facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain. Iran claimed that missile defence systems, radar installations, air defence systems and satellite reception systems were among the targets. The attacks were described by Iran as retaliation for recent US military strikes carried out across several locations inside Iran.

The United States has not immediately confirmed the extent of the damage caused by the attacks.

Why is the conflict getting worse?

The latest exchange follows the US Central Command’s (CENTCOM) announcement that it had conducted its 10th straight night of strikes on Iran. According to CENTCOM, the operations targeted Iranian military command centres, missile and drone launch sites, maritime capabilities and air defence systems.

The US has said the strikes are aimed at reducing Iran’s ability to attack commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz, a key global oil and gas trade route. The latest US military action also followed the deaths of American service members in earlier attacks on US facilities in the region.

Trump warns Iran as tensions rise

US President Donald Trump warned Iran that it would face a stronger response if American troops continued to be targeted. In a social media post, Trump said Iran would “pay many times over” for attacks that kill US soldiers.

Meanwhile, the IRGC warned that the latest operation was only the beginning and said the US should prepare for more powerful drone and missile attacks if military action against Iran continues.

Despite the military escalation, diplomatic efforts are continuing. Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni visited Pakistan for talks with the country’s leadership. According to Iranian media reports, the visit aims to strengthen cooperation and discuss ways to reduce tensions in the region.

Although both sides continue to exchange strikes, efforts by regional partners to encourage dialogue suggest that diplomatic channels remain open. However, with attacks continuing, the situation across West Asia remains highly tense and unpredictable.
