FULL LIST: NUC approves 24 new programmes for KWASU

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the full-time commencement of new programmes at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.

The KWASU’s Director of University Relations, Prof. Saeedat Aliyu, made this known via a statement issued on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.

Aliyu said the approval was contained in a letter addressed to the KWASU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, and signed by the NUC’s Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar Girei.

Aliyu noted that 14 of the programmes were at the undergraduate level, while 10 were at the postgraduate level.

The approved undergraduate programmes are B.Sc. Architecture, B.Sc. Quantity Surveying, B.Sc. Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.Nsc. Nursing Science, B.Ed. Educational Technology, B.Ed. Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed. Health Education, and B.Ed. Entrepreneurship Education.

Others are B.Sc. Insurance and Risk Management, B.Ed. Technology Education, B. Community Health Science, B.Eng. Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Industrial and Production Engineering, and B.Eng. Biomedical Engineering.

....graduate programmes include M.A. and Ph.D. Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. and Ph.D. Performing Arts, M.A. Linguistics, PGD M. Tech and Ph.D. Food Science and Technology, Ph.D. Hospitality and Tourism Managment, Ph.D. Public Administration, and Ph.D. Mass Communication.

Aliyu quoted the KWASU VC as expressing excitement and congratulating the staff of the university who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the resource verification exercise by the NUC.

Shaykh-Luqman said: “The university will continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research, and community development for which the institution is reputed.

“This is by producing excellent human capital resources needed to propel global development.”
