Nigerian content creator and streamer Carter Efe has reacted to Babcock University’s planned legal action against him, appearing to dismiss the institution’s threat with a sarcastic response during a livestream.
The controversy began after Carter Efe claimed during an interview with media personality Egungun of Lagos that he graduated from Babcock University with a first-class degree.
Following the interview, the skit maker further fuelled the claim by sharing what was alleged to be his academic certificate on his X account.
The university subsequently denied the claim and announced that it would pursue legal action against those responsible for the alleged forgery.
In a statement, the institution said it was taking steps to protect its integrity and would seek legal redress against individuals involved in circulating the purported fake certificate.
Reacting to the development during a recent livestream, Carter Efe appeared unfazed by the university’s planned legal action.
Mocking the institution’s move, the content creator joked that officials would have to pay an entrance fee before they could gain access to him.
“I heard that Babcock University is looking for me; you would not see me,” he said.
“You will pay N100,000 for a ticket before you could see me in Babcock, and we are coming soon.”
His remarks have since sparked mixed reactions across social media, with some users interpreting the comments as a joke, while others criticised him for making light of a matter involving alleged certificate forgery.
The controversy has continued to generate widespread attention online, with many awaiting the next steps in the university’s promised legal action.
