APC Senator Denied Second Term Ticket in Osun Gets PDP’s Waiver to Contest On Wike-Backed Faction

Olubiyi

The Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) faction backed by the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, has granted lawmaker representing Osun Central Senatorial District, Sen. Fadeyi Olubiyi, waiver to contest for re-election after being denied ticket by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Fadeyi’s request for the waiver was granted in a letter issued on Thursday by the faction’s National Secretary, Samuel Anyanwu.

The PDP however noted that the approval is without prejudice to any other requirements contained in the Party guidelines and constitution.

The letter read; “The National Working Committee (NWC) has considered your request and the relevant provisions of our Party Constitution on the granting of waiver, I am pleased to inform you that your application has been approved.

“You are therefore, free to contest for any elective office under our platform.

“This is without prejudice to any other requirements contained in the Party guidelines and constitution.”

Meanwhile, the letter was also copied to the Chairman of the PDP faction in Osun State.

Recall that Fadeyi was elected senator under the PDP.

He was however  among the two PDP senators who defected to the APC in Osun amid the internal crisis rocking the opposition party.

Fadeyi was the one who defeated the current National Secretary of the APC Basiru Ajibola out of senate.

After decamping to APC expecting to have a save return to the senate for second term, the party denied him second term ticket.

In his stead, the APC presented Kunle Adegoke as its preferred candidate for the Osun Central Senatorial Dsitrict.
