THE Principal of Whitesands School, Lekki, Dr Emeka Enemuoh, has praised the 2026 graduating students of the school for their outstanding performance in the last Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME).
Enemuoh disclosed, during the graduation/prize giving day held at the school multipurpose court on Saturday, that 22 of the students out of 56 scored 300 and above.
‘’The highest score was an outstanding 369 by Yusuf Gabin; in fact, only five students scored below 250, the lowest being 223, ‘’ he said.
Enemuoh, described the class of 2026 as exceptional and exemplary in terms of dedication to service and sportsmanship.
He said: “You have pioneered the student lecture talks during the school assemblies, setting a standard for those who will come after you.
“You also provided exemplary leadership under the senior prefect, Chukwuebuka Udenze and his deputy, Sumitire Comla.
“In addition to your previous class projects, you undertook a legacy project of your own by raising funds for the tee-shirts worn by both staff and students during our anniversary in the House Athletes’ Competition.
“Now these acts of initiative, generosity and leadership reflect the very values that Whitesands School upholds.
“So, we are immensely proud of every one of you, “ he said.
The principal urged the students to strive to understand the needs of their community and dedicate themselves to solving them as they embarked on a new journey in life.
He urged them to be peacemakers, defend the truth and the weak.
Also, the guest speaker, a telecommunications expert, Mr Wole Abu, charged the graduates to be innovators and problem solvers as they embarked on a new journey.
Abu, who is the Managing Director of Equinix West Africa, a digital infrastructure company, spoke on the evolution of innovation and the need for young people to lead the next wave of change.
‘’The tools keep on changing, but the person remains; problem solvers will never grow out of fashion. They have nowhere.
“Do not fear the tools; master them. Do not cross the problems, but solve them and do not fear, wait for the future. It is already calling you by name.
“Stay focused. Africa is rising and you will rise with it.”
The outgoing senior prefect of the school, Chukwuebuka Udenze, appreciated the principal, teachers, advisors, parents and other ad-hoc staff for their dedication in training the students.
Udenze congratulated the new set of perfects and urged them to carry on the legacy the class of 2026 started.
“I trust in your abilities and capabilities to bring more positive change to the school and carry on the legacy we have started, “ he said.
Highlights of the event include award of prizes to the graduates and other students of the school including overall best in subjects, behaviour, dedication to service and sportsmanship among others.
