Security operatives have rescued two young persons abducted by kidnappers in Kwara State.
The rescued victims are 16-year-old Fatima Azeez and Ibrahim Azeez who is five years old.
The security operatives, who comprise members of the Department of State Security (DSS) and forest guards, carried out the rescue operation on Thursday.
The operation, according to a report by the DSS and local authority, took place at the hideout of the kidnappers in a forest between Oba Isin/Owa Onire area of isin/ Ifelodun Local Government Areas of the state.
The report stated that the security team, while carrying out the rescue operation, eliminated two armed bandits who were members of the kidnapping group.
It said other members escaped from the hideout with severe injuries.
The security team also recovered several items from the kidnappers, including one Ak-47 rifle; one single barrel; one fully loaded magazine with nine empty; mini-solar panel; and food items.
The rescue operation is connected to the multi-agency counterterrorism and anti-kidnapping efforts of the government.
