NO fewer than 1,500 residents of Ota and neighbouring communities in Ogun state have benefited from a free medical outreach organised by PAB Global and PAB Farms in partnership with the Olota of Ota Palace.
The outreach, held on July 14 at Oba Isiyemi Hall, Olota Palace, Ipeti Square, was organised by the Project Manager of PAB Global and PAB Farms, Mr Boluwatife Adeyanju, to commemorate his birthday.
This is contained in a statement signed by Adeyanju and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday.
Adeyanju said the outreach exceeded its initial target of 700 beneficiaries.
He said beneficiaries included elderly persons, women, children, traders, artisans and other residents of Ota and adjoining communities.
According to him, services provided included medical consultations, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria screening, treatment, health education and free medications.
Adeyanju added that patients requiring further care were referred to appropriate health facilities.
He said the outreach was conducted by doctors, nurses, pharmacists and other medical volunteers, with support from community volunteers and traditional leaders.
Adeyanju said he chose to celebrate his birthday by supporting residents who could not afford basic healthcare.
He noted that representatives of the Olota Palace commended the initiative and urged other well-meaning individuals to support community healthcare programmes.
He added that health professionals at the outreach underscored the importance of community-based medical interventions in the early detection and management of common illnesses, saying such initiatives complement government efforts to improve access to healthcare at the grassroots. (NAN)
