The national leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Sen. Seriake Dickson, has revealed how human right activist, Aisha Yesufu, allegedly turned down the party’s offer of House of Representatives ticket presented to her.
Seriake made the disclosure during a press briefing held by the party in Abuja on Thursday.
While addressing the disagreements and agitations emerging from the party’s primary election, particularly at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the former Bayelsa state governor accused Yesufu of turning down the Reps ticket he and the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, presented to her.
He alleged that the activist said she is too big for the position as she insisted in pursuing the Senatorial ticket.
“Talking about this FCT, do you know that Peter Obi and I offered Aisha House of Reps?
“You the public don’t know. And she turned it down. House of Representatives that people are fighting for, she said she is too big for it.” Seriake said.
NPO Reported that Yesufu had last week called out the party’s leadership over the decision to rule out the direct primaries for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Senatorial ticket despite earlier announcing that it will be conducted.
She decried being intimidated and trolled since she joined the party as she vowed not to provide venue for the declaration of a consensus candidate.
“If the National Secretary does not have what it what it takes to go to every local government, then he shouldn’t have put out a statement to the ward that he was going to the that. If we say something, we must stand by our word. It is on our official channel.
“So therefore, I, Aisha Yesufu, will not provide venue for anybody. I’m not asking for a level playing ground. I’m asking for the ground.
“I was told repeatedly that I came in late to this party. Who does that? I’ve endured a lot in the last how many days. My name has been dragged all over.” She had said.
