A late controversial challenge by Messi drew attention but did not alter the outcome.
Messi was rightfully named Man of the Match, producing moments of magic that reminded the world of his enduring genius. Enzo Fernández and Alexis Mac Allister controlled midfield, while Lautaro Martínez provided a strong focal point. For Algeria, captain Mandi and midfielder Hicham Boudaoui fought hard but could not calm the storm.
This result marks a strong start for Argentina in Group J (alongside Austria and Jordan). It avenges past encounters and underscores their status as favorites.
