The Osun State Police Command has revealed that the victims of Wednesday evening’s attack and abduction by suspected political thugs are currently in its custody.
NPO Reported that the suspected political thugs carried yesterday carried out the attack at Ilesa area of the state.
Video of the incident showed the thugs who arrived in a campaign vehicle of the All Progressives Congress (APC) forcing a man into the trunk of the vehicle with one of the armed thugs opening fire in the air.
The kidnap victims would be identified by the Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesman to Osun governor, Ademola Adeleke, as members of the Accord Party.
Olajengbesi alleged one of the victims was shot twice before being abducted as he attempted to escape.
While contacting the Osun Command for confirmation of the incident, the police spokesperson, Abiodun Ojelabi, told NPO Reports that the incident was not reported to the command.
Ojelabi however disclosed that the kidnap victims are currently in the command’s custody with investigation underway.
“Actually, there was no report of such. But nevertheless, we saw the video and we’ve commenced investigation into it.
“The two guys that were abducted, we have them with us and we are interrogating them so that they can give us some information.” He said.
Meanwhile, the police spokesperson refused to disclose details of the victim’s rescue as well as information on their abductors.
“I just know they are with us. Investigation is on and I don’t want to say more than that.” He said.
Ojelabi however assured our correspondent that a press statement detailing the rescue of the vicitms will be released soon.
