Pelumi Olajengbesi, the campaign spokesman to the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has alleged shooting and abduction of an Accord Party member by suspected political thugs affiliated to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Olanjengbesi made the allegation in a post shared on his Facebook page on Thursday.
Attached to the post was a video of the armed thugs dragging the purported Accord member into a campaign vehicle branded with the image of the APC’s candidate for the forthcoming Osun governorship election, Bola Oyebamiji.
The incident reportedly occurred in Ilesa.
According to Olajengbesi, the thugs initially shot the victim twice which proved abortive before chasing and abducting him.
“This is Ilesa, Osun State, tonight.
“APC thugs reportedly abducted a young man under disturbing circumstances. It was gathered that they initially shot at him twice without success, after which they pursued and eventually abducted him.” The Adeleke campaign spokesperson wrote.
Olajengbesi called out the state’s Police Commissioner over the recurring incidents of attacks, abductions, and killing by political thugs.
“The Commissioner of Police, Osun State Command, must appreciate the gravity of these recurring incidents.
“The apparent failure to decisively confront violent criminality is creating an atmosphere where lawlessness appears to thrive.
“History has shown that those who encourage or tolerate impunity do not prevail forever.
“There will always be a day of reckoning, and everyone entrusted with the responsibility of protecting lives will ultimately be accountable for how that responsibility was discharged.” He wrote.
Also sharing the video on his Facebook page was a House of Representatives member, Bamidele Salami.
The lawmaker representing Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore, Ejigbo Federal Constituency called out the APC over the multiple abductions carried out with their campaign buses, alleging eventual murder of the vicitms by the thugs.
“All Progressives Congress, your Governorship candidate braneded bus in Ilesa, Osun syate was again used yesterday to abduct some young Nigerians who were heard shouting for mercy in the video. Those young boys would probably be butchered as usual.
“Your desperation for power has set you against God and man. The planners, executors and supporters of these killings do not need any fresh curse.” Bamidele wrote.
The lawmaker called on President Bola Tinubu to direct the Nigeria Police Force to apprehend the culprits behind the abduction captured in a now viral video.
“We again ask that Nigeria Police Force be directed by President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to apprehend and punish these criminals and their sponsors immediately.
“No aspirations is worth the blood of any human being.” He added.
The development is coming barely a week after suspected political thugs murdered a 14- year-old boy, Ezekiel Olapade, at Ilobu town in Irepodun Local Government Area.
The thugs were also reported to have arrived at the town in an APC branded vehicle and opened fire which killed the late Olapade.
