UNIOSUN Management Closes Campus amid Outrage over Death of Final-Year Student

The management of the University of Osun (UNIOSUN) has ordered the closure of the school campus amid outrage over the death of a final-year student, Grace Osuntokun.

NPO Reported that the 400-level student of Criminology and Security Studies tragically passed away of Friday hours after collapsing at Ifetedo main campus.

The late student was reportedly rushed to the school clinic at the campus with the hope of reviving her with some oxygen.

Unfortunately, the clinic had no oxygen, leading to the death of Osuntokun before she could be transferred to a general hospital.

The demise of the 400-level student who just defended her final-year project on Monday had sparked outrage across the campus as students called out the school management over dearth of medical amenities at the school clinic.

In the wake of the outrage, the UNIOSUN management ordered the temporary closure of the campus with students directed to go home.

This was contained in a statement issued by the school’s Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Funmilayo Oloyede.

The Dean directed the students to leave their hostels on or before 3pm on Sunday with their belongings.

“As a result of the temporary closure of Ifetedo campus, I write to inform all students in all the university hostels at Ifetedo to vacate the hostels on or before 3:00pm on SUnday, 28th June, 2026.

“Please take all your belongings along.

“No student should go home with the hostel keys.” The statement read.

While the school management failed to formally state reason behind the closure, the development had strongly been linked to the death of Osuntokun.
