The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kano State Chapter, has congratulated newly appointed members of the Kano State Sports Commission and the Management Board of Kano Pillars Football Club over their appointments by the state government.
In a statement issued on Friday in Kano, SWAN described the appointments as well-deserved, noting that they reflect recognition of the appointees’ competence, experience and integrity.
The association commended the appointments made by Gov. , saying the decision demonstrated the administration’s commitment to repositioning sports development in the state.
SWAN said the inclusion of diverse stakeholders into the leadership of the and the Management Board of was a strategic move aimed at strengthening administration and improving performance.
According to the association, the appointments come at a critical time in the history of sports administration in Kano State and present an opportunity for renewed professionalism and improved results across the sector.
It urged the appointees to justify the confidence reposed in them by working collaboratively, upholding transparency, and adopting innovative approaches to talent discovery, youth engagement and sports infrastructure development.
SWAN further expressed confidence that the new leadership would bring renewed energy and commitment to the development of sports in the state.
Lastly, SWAN urges the Kano State Government to provide adequate funding to both Kano Pillars FC and the Kano State Sports Commission, and to also upgrade sports facilities in the state to help identify and harness young, talented athletes.
The association also assured stakeholders of its continued support in promoting accountability, constructive engagement and positive publicity for the growth of sports in Kano State.
