Over 200 Nigerian migrants have arrived in Lagos from South Africa as the evacuation deadline issued by the anti-migrant movemwnts in the country elapses.
The returnees reportedly arrived aboard an Air Peace flight which landed at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport on Wednesday.
This marked the latest phase of the Federal Government’s voluntary repatriation programme which kicked off earlier this month.
Having recorded success in the evacuation of the first two batches, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, announced the third batch evacuation of Nigerians stranded in South Africa amid anti-migration protest and xenophobic attacks.
Odumegwu-Ojukwu had in a statement issued on her X handle assured that the Nigerian migrants will be repatriated before the June 30 deadline issued by the protesters elapsed.
