Human rights activist, Omoyele Sowore, has appeared before the Federal High Court in Abuja for the resumption of the hearing of the case filed against him by the Department of States Service (DSS).
NPO Reported that the DSS had dragged Sowore to court for allegedly making false claim against the person of President Bola Tinubu by referring to him as “a criminal” in a post he made on his “X” and Facebook accounts.
DSS had filed a two-count amended charge, marked: FHC/ABJ/CR/484/2025, against the 2027 African Action Congress (AAC) Presidential candidate.
Meanwhile, Sowore had in a counter suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/1887/2025, accused Meta Incorporated of acting on the instruction of the DSS and its DG to take down his post on Tinubu and deactivated his Facebook account.
He sued the DSS, its DG, Meta Platforms Inc. (formerly Facebook), Meta Platforms Ltd and Facebook Nigeria Operations Limited as 1st to 4th respondents respectively.
However, the court would in April dismissed the suit, stressing it lacked merit and accordingly dismissed.
The presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Umar, who said that the Sahara Reporters publisher was not entitled to the reliefs sought, granted the respondents’ application for a cost.
Sequel to the development, Sowore arrived at the court room on Monday with video showing him and few supporters awaiting the resumption of the hearing.
