The 2027 Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has claimed that every politician deserves jail term over the plight of Nigeria.
Obi accused politicians, including himself, of being responsible for the challenges facing the country.
The former Anambra state governor made the claim during a recent public engagement recorded in a video shared on X on Monday.
While recalling his visit to the University of Southern California, Obi disclosed meeting several professors who revealed being ex-convicts with varying jail terms.
“In University of Southern California, I spent days with them where the entire faculty are people who have served in jail- all the professors. And what they do is to give people just as you are doing.
“You will be shocked what they have done. I saw the Dean of a Faculty, he said I did 28 years. I saw the Registrar, everybody, they have done years and it was amazing that they are professors.” He said.
Comparing the professors’ ordeal with Nigeria, the NDC presidential candidate held that the only people who deserve jail term in the country are politicians over the challenges facing Nigerians.
“If you go to jail, most of them are even people who are not supposed to be there in the first place.
“If anybody should be there, it is us politicians for what we have done for the country.”He said.
