Gunmen have attacked Government Day Secondary School in Lassa, Askira/Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, abducting an unspecified number of students while they were sitting for the National Examinations Council (NECO) Senior School Certificate Examination.
The attack, which occurred on Monday morning, reportedly caused panic as students and teachers fled for safety.
The incident was said to have claimed the life of a teacher, while another sustained injuries during the assault.
Confirming the attack, the spokesperson of the Borno State Police Command, ASP Nahum Daso, said security agencies have launched efforts to rescue the abducted students and account for those still missing.
Authorities say investigations are ongoing as security has been reinforced in the area.
