The Osun State Police Command has arrested the political thug linked to the death of the 14-year-old Ezekiel Olapade.
The political hoodlum in person of Saheed Kareem Tanfeani was nabbed by the Osun State Police Command on Sunday.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment of Osun State, Oluomo Kolapo.
NPO Reported that Ezekiel was shot dead by suspected APC thugs while attempting to rescue his mother during a violent attack in Ilobu, Irepodun Local Government Area of the state.
The incident occurred last Sunday, when armed political thugs reportedly launched an attack in Ilobu, triggering panic among residents.
According to the council, Ezekiel was trying to help his mother, who had fallen while fleeing from sporadic gunfire, when he was shot in the head by members of a gang led by one Saheed Kareem, popularly known as “Tanfeani.”
The Governor of Osun State, Ademola Adeleke, commended the Inspector General of Police, IG Tunji Disu and the Command for the successful operation.
Adeleke however charged the police to intensify the manhunt for the arrest of Asiri Eniba, Delaw, Ojuyobo, Aleba, Lucifer, Lasisi and other thugs terrorising the state.
While urging the police to ensure thorough investigation and proper prosecution of the suspect, the governor repeated the earlier call for the change in the leadership of the Anti-cultism team of the state police.
The governor identified the continued presence of Eluku as the head of the anti-cultism team as a dark spot due to his identification with Asiri Eniba and other APC thugs.
“The arrest of Saheed and Akilapa is a good development.
”We are watching to see how far the police will prove its readiness to enforce the law and secure our people.
”For now, we thank the IGP, the Deputy Inspector General of Police and others who make this possible,” he said.
