The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in Ekiti State.

The INEC’s Chief Returning Officer and Vice Chancellor of the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), Professor Adenike Oladiji, made the final declaration at about 3am Sunday morning.

Oladiji declared that Oyebanji polled 319,224 votes to defeat the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Dr Wole Oluyede who came a distant second with 40,543 votes and Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who scored 12,872 votes.

The governor won his re-election by emerging victorious in all the 16 Local Government Areas of the state.

According to her, “I Prof Adenike Oladiji hereby certify that I’m the Returning Officer for the Ekiti state governorship election held on June 20, 2026.

“That Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji of the APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law has scored the highest number of votes is hereby declared the winner and returned elected.”
