THE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Amb. Sola Enikanolaiye, has presented Letters of Credence to Nigeria’s ambassadors and high commissioners-designate to Trinidad and Tobago, Kenya, Equatorial Guinea and Egypt.

The piece of information is in a statement issued by the Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Kimiebi Ebienfa on Tuesday in Abuja.

Ebienfa stated that the presentation of the letters on June 22 followed the receipt of agreement from the host countries, formally accepting the envoys as Nigeria’s principal diplomatic representatives.

He said that out of the 69 ambassadors appointed by President Bola Tinubu, Nigeria has so far received agreement for 63 envoys from the countries they have been posted.

The spokesperson noted that several of the ambassadors, including those assigned to India and South Africa, have already departed for their respective duty posts to begin their diplomatic assignments.

“The ministry is optimistic that the remaining countries will likewise convey their acceptance of the ambassadors posted to their capitals to consolidate cordial diplomatic relations with Nigeria,” he said.

The issuance of agreement by host countries is a key diplomatic requirement that precedes the formal assumption of duties by ambassadors and high commissioners. (NAN)
