The Commissioner of Police in Oyo State, Abimbola Olugbenga has expressed disappointment that people living around the premises where kidnappers of Mrs. Olaide Busayo John-Paul and her children were kept did not raise any alarm despite being aware of the suspicious activities of the criminals.
NPO Reports that the kidnappers had abducted Mrs. Olaide Busayo John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul at the Elewura area of Ring Road in the heart of Ibadan on their way to school on June 3.
A video clip showed the police commissioner inspecting the den used by the kidnappers to hold their victims during captivity.
NPO Reports recalls that the Oyo Police Command had earlier launched a manhunt for the abductors, deploying tactical teams and intelligence assets to track their movements.
Meanwhile, in the early hours of Saturday, the Oyo Police Command spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka announced the successful rescue of Olaide and her sons.
Ayanlade also confirmed that two kidnap suspects were neutralised during the operation.

“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and are now in safe custody, receiving medical care and support.” He added.
Following the rescue operation, Olaide and her sons were taken to Adelabu’s residence where they reunited with the ex-minister.
Speaking at the premises during his visit, the police boss said
“They will kidnap from the town, drive them down here to hide their victims. They don’t want anybody to know the whereabout of whoever is the victim. This house is within a premises. People have been seeing them coming here without anybody reporting the conduct and according to the victims that we have interviewed, they said they would be hearing the happenings in the other compound but they cannot come out. What is there is that if you see something, say something,” the commissioner of Police stated.
Asked to confirm if it was true that the rescue operation was carried out in conjunction with a self-acclaimed ethnic advocate, Sunday Igboho, the Commissioner said “I am not aware of that.”
Also asked to comment on an existing law in the state which prescribes punishment for premises used for kidnapping purposes, the Commissioner said it was up to the state Governor Seyi Makinde to take action on the premises.
