Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has shared his opinion on who the better player is between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, Soccernet.ng reports.

The argument regarding the greater footballer between Messi and Ronaldo is an unending one, as both players have had largely successful careers.

They have distinguished themselves from other players in their generation due to their consistency in front of goal for club and country.

Interestingly, both players have different playing styles. Ronaldo started out as a high-flying winger but later tweaked his game to become a clinical striker, and he has continued to shine since.

Messi, on the other hand, started off as a right winger and has continued to play from that position predominantly. The Argentine maestro is known for his vision, dribbling ability, and incredible eye for goal in the final third.

Also, both players have always been pitted against each other. While Messi has played for Barcelona, PSG, and Inter Miami, Ronaldo has played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and now Al Nassr.

As a result, most football fans are often divided between the two stars.

Victor Osimhen chips in on the Messi vs. Ronaldo debate.

In a recent social media video session, the Super Eagles striker was asked to rank Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo; instead of placing one above the other, he opted for a different approach.

Osimhen stated that he sees both of them on the same level.

”Put Ronaldo and Messi together, both of them are number one. I don’t argue Messi and Ronaldo; I don’t go there,” Osimhen said.

In terms of achievements, it is nearly impossible to separate the two. Ronaldo has more UEFA Champions League titles, but Messi has won more Ballon d’Or awards and has a World Cup title, while Ronaldo has none.

Both players are currently in action at the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Early this morning, Messi struck his first-ever World Cup hat-trick to help his Argentina side claim a handsome 3-0 win over Algeria.
