The Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, has faulted critics insulting President Bola Tinubu over the rise of insecurity in Nigeria.
Umahi who expressed his displeasure with the constant verbal assaults against the President maintained that the country’s insecurity challenge did not start under Tinubu’s administration.
The former Ebonyi state governor made this known during a public engagement on Saturday.
Umahi, in his address, further warned against politicising the insecurity in the country as he alleged being perpetrated by power-seeking opposition politicians.
“What is a national discourse now is the issue of security and insecurity. When people who called themselves extreme politicians insult the president and talk about insecurity as if the insecurity just started within the administration of Mr. President, it is very unfortunate because security is the job of everyone.
“Security should not be politicised. Why is that anytime we are about to have an election, there is heightened insecurity?
“This is very unfair because anybody that takes the life of others, under any guise, God is watching and God is going to pay back.
“If anybody has hands in the insecurity because the person wants power, God will resist such a person. We stand with the President. We pray for him, work for him, and this phase will also pass.” He said.
Umahi expressed confidence in Tinubu’s emergence as winner of the 2027 Presidential election.
He claimed that the president had in his first tenure stabilised the macroeconomy with focus now on extending the economic reforms to the micro level.
He assured that the Tinubu will end insecurity in Nigeria as he expressed solidarity with Oyo State students and teachers currently held in captivity.
“We will win our election by the special grace of God. The boat is already on sail. It is on high sea. We are experience turbulence, but the president has been able to stabilise the boat in so many directions.
“In macroeconomy, he stabilised the Naira and we are descending the haze of the reforms to the microlevel. This insecurity will also be solved by this president, and we will all be grateful to God Almighty.
“We continue to pray for our students who are in captivity. God sees them wherever they are hiding.
“My confidence is in God that this phase will come and pass under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.” He added.
