The 2027 African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has paid a courtesy visit to presidential aspirant, Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, days after the party’s primary election.
In what had been considered a reconciliatory move by the former Vice President, Atiku arrived at Hayatu-Deen’s Lagos residence on Sunday alongside some other delegation of the party.
Some of members of the delegation include former Sokoto State Governor, Sen. Aminu Tambuwal; ADC Lagos Governorship candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour; former military head of state, Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar, and former Cross Rivers State Governor, Liyel Imoke, amongst others.
Atiku, in a post shared on his X handle after the visitation disclosed that Hayatu-Deen resolved to work together with him and the party for the 2027 Presidential Election.
“Earlier today, I visited my brother and fellow aspirant, Alhaji Mohammed Hayatu-Deen, at his residence in Lagos.
“Our discussions on the state of our nation and party were frank and productive.
“We resolved to work together in the challenging task of reclaiming and rebuilding our beloved country for the greater good of our people.” The ex-Vice President wrote.
NPO Reported that Atiku had last week emerged winner of the ADC Presidential Primaries which conduct was met with controversies.
Atiku was declared winner with 1,846,370 votes, beating his closest rival, former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, who polled 504,117 votes.
Hayatu-Deen, on the other hand, recorded 177,120 votes.
Prior to the final collation of the results and declaration, Hayatu-Deen announced that he will boycott the event as he alleged vote rigging.
Amaechi would also decry widespread of voters’ disenfranchisement during the election.
However, Atiku had since extended the olive branch to the former Rivers state governor and Minister of Transportation.
