Adelabu Reunites with Sister, Nephews as Police Release Video of Operation

The former Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has reunited with his sister, Mrs. Olaide John-Paul, and her two sons.

NPO earlier Reported that the Olaide and her sons were rescued during a late-night operation carried out by the police on Saturday.

The trio were on Wednesday abducted by armed kidnappers in Ibadan.

Confirming the rescue operation, the Oyo Police Command, in a statement issued by its spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the hostages were rescued by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) at 7:30pm.

“The Nigeria Police Force announces the successful rescue of Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, who were abducted on June 3, 2026, in Ibadan, Oyo State.

“The hostages were rescued during a coordinated operation by the Force Intelligence Department Intelligence Response Team (FID-IRT) in Ibadan at approximately 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 6, 2026. Mrs. Adegoke and her children were abducted while she was driving them to school at about 7:30 a.m. on June 3, 2026.

“The rescue was achieved through sustained intelligence gathering, surveillance, and tactical operations.

“These efforts enabled investigators to track the kidnappers’ movements, resulting in a confrontation with FID-IRT operatives.” The statement read.

Ayanlade also confirmed that two kidnap suspects were neutralised during the operation.

“During the confrontation, two suspected kidnappers were fatally wounded and two rifles were recovered. The victims were rescued unharmed and are now in safe custody, receiving medical care and support.” He added.

Following the rescue operation, Olaide and her sons were taken to Adelabu’s residence where they reunited with the ex-minister barely two days after the state governor, Seyi Makinde, paid a visit to him at the residence.

Meanwhile, the Oyo Police Command also released the video of the rescue operation capturing moment the FID-IRT operatives bust into the kidnappers’ hideout.

The operatives, as captured in the video, charged into the house where the victims were kept.

Olaide could be seen with her twin sons who were half-naked as the police ramped up the house, arresting other suspects found.

One of the suspects attempted to hide in the ceiling of the house.

He was however caught and forced down.
