A faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, reportedly backed by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has released the list of its candidates for the House of Representatives ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The list was contained in a statement issued in Ibadan on Wednesday by the party’s State Organising Secretary, Mr Stephen Olaniyi, who stated that the candidates emerged from primaries conducted across the state on Sunday.
According to the statement, a total of 14 candidates will represent the faction in their respective federal constituencies in the forthcoming general elections, as political preparations intensify ahead of 2027.
The faction expressed confidence in the ability of its candidates to secure victory at the polls and urged party members across Oyo State to remain united and support their campaigns and mobilisation efforts.
Among those listed are Mr Samson Fatola, who will contest for Ibadan South-West/North-West Federal Constituency, and Mr Idris Olanrewaju, nominated for Oyo East/Oyo West/Atiba/Afijio Federal Constituency.
Also on the list is Mr Olusegun Akinloye, who will represent Ogo-Oluwa/Surulere Federal Constituency.
Other candidates include Mrs Elizabeth Alao (Ido/Ibarapa East), Mr Rasaki Haruna (Ibarapa Central/North), and Mr Rotimi Ajumobi (Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Iwajowa/Kajola).
In addition, Mr Adedotun Adebayo was nominated for Oluyole Federal Constituency, while Mr Olusoji Olusegun will contest for Ibadan North Federal Constituency. Mr Solomon Odeyemi was also listed for Egbeda/Ona-Ara Federal Constituency.
The statement further named Mrs Victoria Akinyemi for Akinyele/Lagelu, Mr Abdul-Lateef Adeniran for Irepo/Olorunsogo/Orelope, and Mrs Ramota Azeez for Atisbo/Saki East/Saki West Federal Constituency.
Others include Mr Olayemi Akinyemi, who will contest for Ibadan South-East/North-East Federal Constituency, and Mrs Ajoke Okanlawon, who will represent Ogbomoso North/South/Oriire Federal Constituency.
The announcement reflects ongoing internal restructuring within the PDP in Oyo State, where factional divisions have continued to shape political alignments ahead of the 2027 elections. Party stakeholders have increasingly called for reconciliation to strengthen the party’s chances in upcoming contests.
The faction maintained that the selection process was transparent and democratic, stressing that the chosen candidates are well positioned to compete effectively against rival parties in the state.
